feat. lost nuclear bombs

hi,

i'm trying something new for a week and seeing if i like it. instead of sporadic emails that occur once in a blue moon, i'm going to send this out daily, with just one article.

there are several reasons for this, and if you're interested i'd encourage you to keep reading. if not, skip this part and head down to check out the article of the day + any other thoughts/recommendations i have.

1. perhaps most importantly, it will allow me to stay consistent. it makes sense - one a day, that's all you need

2. it'll be far easier on y'all. i mean, who wants to sit down and read ten longform articles (save the writer of this newsletter)? i think one article is far better, and allows you to really take in the article as opposed to skimming it because there are eight others that interested you

3. my favorite newsletters are all daily. why not emulate the best?

4. austin kleon's book series on creatives gives the helpful advice: put something new out there every day. i'm going to try this and see how it works

5. ali abdaal's video on newsletters was an interesting refresher for me as to why i love doing this more than anything else

so without further ado, let us dive into the one article of the day:

there are three missing us bombs. like, nuclear bombs. and we just don't know where they are. i wonder if they've been recovered, and the military doesn't want to say so because it would highlight the fact that they lost. nuclear. bombs.

the soviets also lost some bombs -- which begs the question, what else have great superpowers lost? or, in a bit of conspiracy, "lost?" perhaps what has been lost has simply "disappeared." who knows -- but i might be on a government watchlist now.

and with that, i'll throw in an extra recommendation as a thank you for hanging out with me this morning: the circle by dave eggers. it's the first fiction book i've fully read in maybe two years, and it's a well-done critique of big tech that everyone in the tech space should absolutely read. it was written about ten years ago, and it's still as relevant as ever. and by that i mean absolutely terrifying.

if you know anyone that would like this, i'd truly appreciate if you forwarded it to them. they can sign up here. we just hit 250 subscribers, and for some reason that's just wild to me. the new goal is 1,000 by the end of the year, because why not.

see you tomorrow,

zev
